Beauty In A Bottle

We absolutely adore perfume bottles and we’re definitely not alone. The perfume bottle (or Flacon as the French like to call it) is one of our most treasured glamour icons, taking pride of place in boudoirs and bathrooms around the world. It’s a statement piece that like the signature scent inside makes us feel sophisticated, beautiful, treasured and more.  That’s why we love the bottles as much as the scent inside. What many of us don’t know is the level of craftsmanship behind the bottle design. Perfume houses invest tens of millions of dollars every year in crafting captivating bottles that celebrate and showcase their signature scents. Their outstanding designs are entered into the fragrance world’s equivalent to the Academy Awards – the prestigious Fifi Awards.

There’s even a school for perfume packaging design – run by the Pratt Institute in New York – where students learn the fine art of bottle design from one of the world’s leading perfume bottle designers, Marc Rosen, who has crafted perfume bottles for the likes of Burberry, Fendi, Elizabeth Arden, Revlon, Lagerfield and Victoria’s Secret.

The final glamorous gong for this beautiful craft comes from its group of adoring fans. There is an International Perfume Bottle Association made up of a passionate group of collectors captivated by the magnificence of the flacon through the ages. Personally, we can’t think of a more captivating and wonderful hobby, can you?
